To Blackwood - Winns road. From Blackwood - Corromandel parade/Murray's hill

Several years ago when I was newer to cycling I exploited my local knowledge of the area and devised the safest route to and from Blackwood.Okay, "In my humble opinion"Very few other cyclists use it but it would probably cause less aggravation if people did.Basically, riding from Murray's hill road to Blackwood up Diosma drive cyclists are a pita. The climb is steep, there is no where to overtake due to limited vision and traffic coming the other way. Winns road however. Also steep, cars have…See More

"Thanks for the advice. I did enjoy it. That day was a northerly which wasn't quite as nice, but I achieved my aim. The aim was, nice road, quiet road. Which it is. Much better than going into and out of Lobethal."

"My preference is to head up Fox Creek Rd from Gorge Rd (usually coming from Lobethal) and then onto Lenswood via Coldstore. Great climb up to the top (regular TDU KOM) and then cruisey spin to Lenswood. Top section of Fox Creek road is a pretty good…"

Jilden replied to Matt S's discussion Coldstore and Fox creek road, What's it like?
"Usual Hills bitumen road surfaces, some bumps and leaf litter. Coldstore Rd is moderate gradient up from Lenswood, then  Fox Ck Rd is a fast descent with a couple of tight corners up the top. Nothing that should upset a normally awake rider."

"I think this might be the best tdf for some time. The dropping of the city stage, good. It was killing the tour. Shifting Willunga to Sunday, great, it’s become an iconic stage and had to be kept. Saturday I hope works, Yankalilla is so pretty…"

After RIde Like Crazy will anything replace it?

This Sunday being the last RLC I have to ask the question. But first, what a magnificent route, well organised ride and such an excellent start to the TDU week. Massive kudos to the organisers, they've run something special for ten years, raised a lot of money and contributed in a positive way to the Adelaide cycling community. And knowing how things get organised its probably been a relatively few people stringing it together with a lot of personal volunteer hours with little thanks and…See More
