"Fair enough! I think tunnels in areas like that are a great idea. I wouldn’t want to be riding in tunnels all the time though."

"Daniel, a pedestrian tunnel near a railway station uses far less space (width, height and entrance) than a tunnel for vehicles or buses. The Netherlands, and more recently NZ, have installed cyclist underpasses."

"Wayne, when a proposed project is very expensive, requires more political interest to be it implemented. So I will not bother advocating for the inner ring-route to be undergrounded."

Daniel replied to Dan's discussion Bike lane termination at new Rundle Rd/East Tce intersection
"I don’t like the idea of tunnels either. They’re very expensive, they take up a lot of surrounding room (see O-Bahn tunnel), but most importantly they remove the only positive to car traffic - passive surveillance, which does actually…"

"Heather, I think safety is a greater issue than expense should be. Australia has a few tunnels that could be considered long (to my knowledge BNE Airport Link is the longest @ 6-7km), but they're short in comparison to tunnels around the world.…"

"Wayne, after I read your links, realised you meant sending vehicles underground. Very very expensive. Another reason why govt vetoes cyclist-pedestrian tunnels is the expense, although only a fraction of what govt spends on infrastructure…"

""I think Wayne was advocating for car tunnels, leaving the surface for parks and walking/cycling trails." I second that. All the examples I provided send vehicles underground, or eliminate the road altogether. I'd personally take…"

"The video is from 2013.  Time was school run in the morning.  Given the change in outfits, the return trip is after sport training so after 5:00pm and makes it a Tuesday or Thursday. I think Wayne was advocating for car tunnels, leaving…"

"Paul, a great video which shows planners how ridiculous it is for cyclists to use the 'safe' parklands paths, but have to cross several 4-lane roads. And crossing becomes more hazardous in peak-hour. What weekday and hour of the…"

"My wife & I walked that trail when we visited here years ago and again just after we moved here last winter. We both felt and feel that (an ambitious) goal should be to tunnel all the roads heading into ACC, make the Parklands completely…"

"I spoke to a civil engineer yesterday about the design at this intersection. The discussion was valuable and I have learned some interesting things. Apparently DPTI wanted to have a Dutch-like protected intersection, but Adelaide City Council were…"

"I noticed too the lack of a pedestrian refuge in the middle of Rundle Rd this morning, coming from Rymill Park via the reopened path."

Michael Murray replied to Dan's discussion Bike lane termination at new Rundle Rd/East Tce intersection
"Cycling past tonight it looks like the diversion off to the left, up onto the footpath and across at the lights has been opened up.  Don't know if they have fixed the beg button as I was cycling the other way.  On the other side the…"
