Surly Long Haul Trucker - Purchasing experience

It is not often that I'm impressed with service I have received these days but the service provided by Pete and Lia from Bio-Mechanics Cycles and Repairs deserves to be mentioned.

After Lia contacted me on this site to let me know they sold Surly bikes I rode into their shop the next day. Pete spent an hour checking my fit on my current bike and discussing options and possibilities. I was very comfortable that he'd listened to what I wanted and provided me with the information I required to make a safe decision on the bike that was best for my needs. By the time I left the shop I'd made deposit on a 60cm Surly Long Haul Trucker based on his advice and a lot of Internet research.

Complimenting this initial impression was the fact that nothing was too hard. I wanted a different saddle, different tyres, changed my mind on panniers and had plenty of questions. All my wants were handled professionally and I was kept up-to-date on the progress of my bike via regular e-mails.

Once the bike arrived Pete asked me to come in for a final fitting. Pete spent another three quarters of an hour with me on the bike ensuring everything was set up perfectly for me. What really impressed me is that Pete had picked up a few differences in the way I set my bikes on the first visit. He'd set the new bike up the same way. The only changes that needed to be made were seat height and bar height, the rest was perfect.

To top all this off I was greeted by this when I picked up the LHT today. Well, they weren't standing behind the bike when I walked it but the bike was on the stand presented as shown in front of the counter.

Apologies for the flash reflection from the tyres but it does go to show the effectiveness of the reflective sidewalls on the Schwalbes.

All-in-all my purchasing experience was a very positive one and I've posted this as my way of saying thanks to Pete and Lia. Well done guys.

Wow! Fantastic. It looks possessed! (Goes with Pete's haircut).

Looks like a Brooks saddle - which one did you go for?

The Brooks is a standard B17. I haven't ridden on a Brooks before and made the selection based on experience. It does need to be broken in but is already quite comfortable. The slightly nose up attitude is as advised by Pete for my riding position.
