While many of us carry water when we go for a ride, not everyone does and sometimes they need a drink and sometime we run out and need to top up. Often all we want and need is clean fresh water, but it can sometimes it can be hard to find somewhere we can access it. To that end, I thought I would start a google map where people can plot drinking fountains/bubblers around the city which can be used by cyclists and other people in the community be able to easily find where they can get a drink of water. I have only plotted a few bubblers so far, but feel free to add to the map:

Might be worth asking council offices if they would provide a list of public water fountains from their list of assets.

Agree that this is a good idea. Council websites have links to parks etc usually decribing features such as drinking fountains. My ideas for drinking fountains and dog drinking bowls with the upgrade on Prospect Road was taken up by Prospect Council (they didn't tell me, though - I found out from the link on their website! - "Special features such as drinking fountains, street furniture, water bowls for dogs "). As I'm a candidate in the Prospect Council elections 2010, I'm required to add that I've authorised this statement. If you're interested, my website is www.kristinabarnett.freehosting.net - I have a quote: "When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair of the human race." - H.G. Wells - Cheers-Kristina Barnett

Great idea David. You might have seen that Sturt Council are asking everyone to help constrct and decorate a bidon filling station that is going to be installed at Hindmarsh on the Linear Park.
