Wonderful Belgian style weather for LBL today.

The roads are nearly empty as well, which makes it even better for the serious cyclists who don't mind a little drizzle or 2 :)

Really cool to see you guys make it out. Got the heaters on, and cooking up fresh treats for anyone who can make it in today.

Finally got to finish assembling my commuter today... well almost finished. May not qualify here as it has modern components except for the DiaCompe GranCompe brake calipers, but I built the 4130 CrMo frame in the early 80's and recently refinished it in white with some NOS Elizabeth Star decals I had laying around my office. Now, some panniers, pedals and lights and I'm away!

what was wrong with "vintage steel"? I preferred that name!.

Cotter pins are easy to remove by drilling the centre out. Now I need an easy method to release the stem corroded into my 40's track frame. :(   Hoping to have a proper crack at it next week.

I'm a big fan of the drilling!

Yes Stubborn cotter pins can test the patience.  I tried heat and pressure thought I had victory hearing a 'crack'..... unfortunately it was the drill vice.

A cocktail of drilling, belting and swearing got it in the end.

The early morning start (very early for those who watched the Ronde to the end!)

Thanks for the ride yesterday guys. I took the long way home to test the old 12 speed in the foothills. Some serious old school honking required up the steep bit of Sunnyside rd. Briefly considered a quick spin up the old freeway but realised it would be more like a long grind.
